Dr. Parth Dalal, Consultant Pediatrician and Pediatric Intensivist in Kharadi, Pune, is currently managing a rare and critical case of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) recurrence in a 4-year-old boy from Wagholi at Manipal Hospitals. Having recovered from his first GBS episode after 18 months of physiotherapy, the child experienced a second onset with more severe symptoms, requiring ventilator support and tracheostomy. Dr. Dalal highlighted that while GBS recurrence is extremely rare (2–3% cases), timely diagnosis and treatment—through immunoglobulin therapy, physiotherapy, and respiratory care—are crucial for recovery. He emphasized the importance of long-term multidisciplinary support for optimal recovery in such complex pediatric cases.
